Hidden deep in the countryside of Dorset and centred around the beautiful historical abbey, Sherborne is more than just your average market town. Along with the abbey, there’s also a castle which surely gives it some kind of supremacy over other country towns. Castles are cool.
You’ll find a lot of meandering narrow streets in Sherborne, full of stone buildings. There are many independent shops and cafes to wander in and out of, and a couple of decent pubs too.
Down on Cheap Street lies this calming little shop called Almondbury’s. It’s family owned and run and is deceptively large inside spanning three deep rooms.
Predominantly an interior design and lighting shop, Almondburys stocks all sorts of homely wonders. From big bumble-bee print vases, to shabby chic reindeer bookends, it’s a great place to find gifts for even the most difficult of family members.
The first room carrys larger furniture items and decorative lighting. As you move deeper into the shop, you’ll find lots of little knick-knacks for around the house like coasters, bowls and photo frames.
In the last room you’ll find outdoor accessories like boot scrapers, watering cans and artificial flowers. There’s also a beautiful fireplace that was all festive looking and decorated for Christmas.
Almondburys is open Monday-Saturday 9.30am-5.00pm and Sunday 10am-4pm.
